ROTARY
Clubs in Dar es Salaam, in association with Bank M Tanzania plc, have
once again join hands to organized a fund rising marathon, dubbed Rotary
Dar – Marathon 2015. The theme this year is – ‘Healing lives, transforming communities’ hence the proceeds of the walk will be directed towards construction of a state of the art healthcare facility in Dar es salaam.
The Rotary Dar Marathon, will be held on Wednesday October 14th 2015, according to the Chairperson of the organizing committee, Sharmila Bhatt said “is in line with the Rotary tradition of working together with communities and corporate partners so as to address the needs of the people. Rotary in Tanzania has grown and is growing and we shall keep growing and making a difference to our community.”
Speaking
during the signing ceremony of the partnership agreement held at the
Hyatt Regency, Bank M’s Deputy CEO Ms. Jacqueline Woiso, said that they
have decided once again to partner with Rotary Clubs in Dar es Salaam
for this event because the event aims at helping the community. “We have
been the major partner in this event since its inception in 2009, and
we have played a significant role in propagating and enhancing the scale
of this event to what it is today. Healthcare facilities is one of the
major requirements by the local communities at large, health leads to
economic growth, and we are committed to helping the community in any
way”, Ms. Woiso stated.

has always been on the fore front in supporting community based
projects. Our policy has always been working hand in hand with other
reputable organizations in making a difference to the community”,
concluded Ms. Woiso.
Commenting
on the bank’s sponsorship towards this year’s event, the Organizing
Committee Chairperson Sharmila Bhatt said “We appreciate Bank M’s
commitment to what we do. We are proud to be associated with Bank M as our partners this year again, they have been our main sponsors for the past 7 years in a row, thank you so much. We have just completed the refurbishing a 400m2 state
of the art, Learning Resource Centre at the University of Dar es
Salaam. The modern library provides information skills
training, disability access and provision for e-services like journals,
manuscripts, macro materials, maps, and much more -
all encouraging social, interactive and collaborative learning spaces,
all these have been done by the Rotary Clubs of Dar es salaam in
partnership with Bank M”, she said.
The Marathon will be presided over by the retired President Mzee Ali Hassan Mwinyi who is the patron of the Rotary Dar Marathon.
Rotary
clubs in Tanzania have managed to carry out huge community service
projects and in the last 7 years the six clubs in Dar es Salaam formed
the Rotary Dar Marathon, and to date the project has facilitated many
community projects, one of them being state of the art Pediatric
Oncology ward in sub Saharan Africa built at the Muhimbili National
Hospital.
